"V&A Dundee trip from Rayleigh. Flew easyJet from Southend to Amsterdam, came back and headed straight to Dundee for the Scottish Design Galleries. Executive car from Southend arrivals, driver M25, M1, A1(M) into Scotland, M90 northbound, A90 over the Tay Road Bridge, dropped directly at the Riverside Esplanade DD1 4QB entrance in six hours fifty-eight minutes from Southend arrivals. He knew the difference between the V&A entrance on the esplanade and the station entrance five minutes away. He took a comfort stop at Wetherby Services M1 which was perfectly timed. The V&A building is extraordinary close up — Kengo Kuma. LNER to Dundee is five hours minimum from King's Cross but that's two changes from Southend. The taxi is actually competitive on time."

"Dundee resident flying from Southend. I use easyJet from Southend to Amsterdam three times a year for business. Estate car home to Dundee DD2, driver M25, M1, A1(M), M90, A90 over the Tay bridge, home in seven hours five minutes from Southend arrivals. He took one comfort stop near Scotch Corner which he chose himself and it was exactly right for timing. He knew the Tay bridge approach well and knew DD2 Broughty Ferry area. LNER from King's Cross is four and a half hours but with the cross-London connection and the taxi from Dundee station to DD2 it's six hours minimum. For me with luggage and going to DD2 the estate at £210 is the right choice every time."

"University of Dundee medical student from Leigh-on-Sea. I fly Ryanair from Southend to Faro to visit family every summer. Saloon from Southend arrivals, driver A13, M25, M1, A1(M), M90, A90 into Dundee, dropped at Nethergate DD1 4HN, the university main entrance, in seven hours two minutes. He knew the University of Dundee campus and went to the main Nethergate entrance rather than the Perth Road side. Two comfort stops, one near Wetherby and one near Edinburgh — perfectly spaced for a seven-hour trip. Train with two connections and luggage is about seven hours door to door when you include the King's Cross wait. This is the same time but I'm at my accommodation not at the station."
