London Southend Airport is a brilliant option for European short-haul flights, and Truro is Cornwall's only city, with a surprisingly compact and beautiful historic centre. Truro Cathedral (TR1 2AF, High Cross) is a Victorian Gothic masterpiece designed by John Loughborough Pearson, begun 1880 and completed with three spires in 1910 — England's youngest medieval-style cathedral; it incorporates the south aisle of the medieval parish church of St Mary the Virgin inside (visible in the St Mary's Aisle). Royal Cornwall Museum (TR1 2SJ, River Street; founded 1818) holds an internationally significant collection of Cornish minerals, Bronze Age artefacts, Egyptian antiquities, and Newlyn School paintings; free admission. Hall for Cornwall (TR1 2LL, Back Quay) is the major regional theatre, recently refurbished, hosting major touring productions. Lemon Quay (TR1 2LW) is the open-air city-centre events and market space, flanked by the cathedral views. The Pannier Market (TR1 2QN) is the traditional indoor market. Truro railway station (TR1 2AH, Station Road) is served by GWR to London Paddington (approximately 5 hours direct on the fastest services). The River Fal flows southward from near Truro to Falmouth and the stunning Carrick Roads estuary. Nearby: Falmouth (TR11, 12 miles south; National Maritime Museum Cornwall TR11 3QY, Pendennis Castle, beaches), St Austell (PL25, 14 miles east; Eden Project PL24 2SG is 5 miles north at Bodelva, Par), Newquay (TR7, 14 miles northwest; surf beaches and airport TR8), St Ives (TR26, 30 miles west; Tate St Ives TR26 1TG, Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Garden), Penzance (TR18, 25 miles west; Scilly ferry). Truro College (TR1 3XX, College Road).

Real reviews from customers who've used our Southend Airport taxi service.
"Truro Cathedral visit from Rayleigh. Flew easyJet from Southend to Amsterdam and came back for a Cornish weekend. Saloon from Southend arrivals, driver A13, M25, M3, M5, A30 through Bodmin, dropped at High Cross TR1 2AF by the Cathedral Close gate in five hours twenty-eight minutes from Southend arrivals. He took a comfort stop at Exeter Services on the M5 which he suggested at the right time. He drove directly to the Cathedral gate and knew the High Cross approach rather than going along Boscawen Street. GWR from Paddington is five hours direct but that's with two London connections from Liverpool Street. This is one door to cathedral gate with one comfort stop. The three spires are magnificent from the train in too but this is door to door."
"Cornwall resident flying from Southend. I fly Ryanair to Faro from Southend once a year and use this service home to Truro TR1. Estate car from Southend arrivals, driver M25, M3, M5, A30, delivered to my house in Truro TR1 in five hours forty-two minutes. He took one comfort stop near Taunton Deane on the M5 which was perfectly placed. He knew Truro well and approached from the A390 into the city centre rather than off the A39 ring road which gives a confusing approach to the TR1 streets. GWR Paddington to Truro is five hours direct but I need a taxi from Truro station to my house which adds time and cost. At £165 for the estate to my front door in TR1 this is outstanding value for a solo traveller with a week of luggage."
"Eden Project and Falmouth holiday from Leigh-on-Sea. Family of four, flew easyJet from Southend to Malaga, back for a Cornwall week. MPV six-seater from Southend arrivals, driver M25, M3, M5, A30, then A391 to the Eden Project PL24 2SG at Bodelva — he used PL24 2SG for satnav not Eden Project which is correct. Delivered to the Eden entrance in five hours fifty-eight minutes including the Eden approach from the A30. He then came back the following Friday and took us to Falmouth TR11 for the National Maritime Museum TR11 3QY on Discovery Quay. He knew Discovery Quay. Four of us in the MPV at £185 divided four ways. The train with four people and a week of luggage would have been impossible."
